Karachi Biscuits/Tutti Frutti Biscuits


Karachi Biscuits are very popular in Hyderabad.There is a Bakery in Hyderabad which was started after partition of India in 1953 which is famous for this biscuits,plum cake.Now it is available in all the retail markets.It is famous for its crunchiness,softness,crispiness.It is embedded with tutti frutti and nuts.Here is the recipe of Karachi Biscuits.

Ingredients :
All purpose flour/Maida-1 cup
Powdered Sugar- 1/2cup to 3/4 cup(can be adjusted as per you)
Butter-1/2 cup (60-70gms)
Custard powder-2 tsp
Salt-1/2 tsp
Tuttifrutti-1/2 cup
Cashew nut-6 chopped 7-8 nos
Milk-2 tsp

Procedure :
1.Take a bowl,add 1/2 cup butter  and beat the butter in high speed for 2 mins with help of electric beater or continuous whisking with hand.
2.Add 1/2 cup powdered sugar to the bowl.Beat sugar with butter in high speed for 2 mins till the sugar gets properly blend with butter
3.Add 1 cup all purpose flour/maida to the bowl.
4.Now add 2 tsp of custard powder,1/2 cup of tutti frutti and chopped 7-8 cashew nuts.
5.Take 2 tsp of milk and add milk as required and make a dough.
6.Take a rolling board or clean surface where you are going to roll, rsprinkle some flour.
 7.Now take the dough and roll it in a cylindrical shape.
8.Cling wrap the dough and refrigerate it for an hour or overnight is also ok.This will give shape to the dough after refrigerating.Without refrigerating we can roll and cut into pieces but while cutting the dough, the tutti frutti falls down or the nuts so chilling the dough will become firm n easy to cut.
9.After refrigerating remove the cling wrap,cut it into thick pieces.Take a baking tray,apply butter on the tray or place butter paper on it.Start placing the pieces.
Let the chillness go away and wait till the pieces comes to room temperature.This will make the cookies soft and crunchy.
10.Now preheat the oven at 350 degree Fahrenheit or 180 degree and bake it for 20 mins.After baking and removing the tray from the oven let the cookies get cooled,Check for the cookies if it has become dry,By pressing the cookies it should be hard enough if not then bake again for 5 more minutes.
Serve it and store the remaining cookies in air tight container.
