Sweet Poha or jaggery aval is the simple neivedyam to make for Lord Krishna.Aval/Poha is one of the favourite dish of Lord Krishna. So here is one easy recipe, can be made on Janmashtami. If we don't have time we can quickly make this recipe.
Preparation Time : 2 mins
Cook Time : 10 mins
Total Time : 12 mins
Ingredients:
Thick poha/aval- 1 cup (200 gms)
Jaggery-3/4th cup (150 gms)
Grated coconut-1/4th cup (25 gms) or 3-4 tablespoon
Cashew nut-6-7 nos
Cardamom powder-1/2 tsp
Procedure:
1.Take 1 cup of aval (100 gms) in a bowl.Wash the aval for three times. No need to soak it.After washing aval will become little soft.Keep aside till the jaggery melts. The moisture in aval will make little more soft.
2.Take a bowl or pot.Add jaggery to it and little water till the jaggery gets immersed.Boil it.
3.All the jaggery will get dissolved and it should be boiled till it becomes little thick (string consistency) just like sugar syrup.Once the jaggery melts, and if you find any dirt particles you can strain out and again keep it for boiling.
4.Turn the flame to low and then add this aval to the jaggery syrup and mix it with spatula for 2-3 times and then switch off the flame and leave it for 5-10minutes.The aval will get soaked in the jaggery syrup.
5.Add 1/4th cup of grated coconut or 3-4 table spoons of grated coconut,1/2 tsp of cardamom powder and mix it.
6.Lastly fry the cashew nuts, add to the aval and give a good mix.The sweet aval is ready and can be served for Neivedyam or serving.
Jai Sri Krishna :-)
